This Elizabethan dress was made from a whole load of bits and pieces but really came together quite well.  The main  dress and bodice was made from 2 single green bedspreads, the undershirt was made from thermal drap curtaining and calico and the partlet and oversleeves were made from an old net curtain I had. The farthingale was made from calico with steel timber strapping for the boning.  The neck-ruff was made of satin ribbon with all fingers and thumbs working together. What a mission the ruff was but in the end came together!!  I was really on a budget when I made this one!

A veil was attached to the head dress as worn in the times. I didn't have a petticoat to wear under this dress and over the farthingale so the steel hoops were quite obvious.
The bumroll is really noticeable in this photo

I felt like the Queen of the Castle. This is the closest we could come to a castle in New Zealand. As a privately owned house the homeowner kindly gave me permission to have my photo taken in the gardens.

Another photo which shows the bumroll quite well.  I felt very large in this dress as everything was sticking out!!
