In the time of the early 19th century the waist lines had risen and the dresses not so restrictive. Well that is what it looks like. But the corset was still a very big part of ladies underpinnings so even though this gown looks nice a free flowing the body was still wrapped up underneath!
This dress is made from a light cotton with a tiny flower print. It is fully lined and still has another petticoat on underneath.

In the cooler weather a spencer was added as a warmer garment. These were both long and short but I only made the shorter one. This spencer is made of deep red and black velvet.
