This was my first attempt at making a bustle dress. It is made of a lovely dark blue/purple velvet with cream lace. The photos are taken at Alberton Historical House in Mt Albert, Auckland.
This photo was taken inside Alberton House. It has a rather historic feel about it although the photo is in colour. I only have a padded bustle cushion under this dress as I hadn't made a fully boned bustle at the time. That came later with more experience.
Donning a parasol for the outdoors. On the upper veranda of Alberton House.
This walking dress was made from a bronze satin with creamy/apricot coloured lace trimmings. It is a three piece dress with bodice, underskirt and overskirt. I made the parasol to go with my dresses but it doesn't open - Only for show!
This dress has been my favorite. A forest green and burnt orange taffeta dress made in two pieces. It was a very comfortable dress to wear and I loved it.
I wear little black Italian lace up ankle boots with my Victorian costumes.
This photo was taken inside Highwick Historic House in Auckland, New Zealand. A lovely historical setting for photos of people in period costume. Here I am on one of those occassions when I could convince my husband it would be a good day out in costume!! We were part of the Christmas entertainment at Highwick.
I had to put this photo on as a sepia look into the past. It is one of my favorite costume photos.
I made this dress in 2008 and I love the way the waterfall effect worked on the back. I used the same material as I used on the 1850's crinoline as I had heaps left over. The lace comes from a lovely lady in England who gave it to me last time I was there. I don't know how old the lace was but it wasn't new so suited going on an old fashioned dress. The dress is made of the bodice and a two piece skirt.
